I've been working on my website located at http://www.temporalvagabonds.net. I never really recovered from the catastrophe that took my site down in 2012 that forced me to move the active projects stuff to my zbase site. I'm still trying to decide what should be on the main site and am gathering materials to post in the near future.

I'm thinking about ripping out the Wordpress install and just do simple static pages as a stand-in for anything I might have used it for. It's a pain in the arse to keep updated and just seems to collect comment spam.

Hey, [livejournal.com profile] sdaemon, could you take a look at http://www.temporalvagabonds.net/miscellany/specs.php and let me know if there's anything else I should add to it?

to be honest, with all the security vulnerabilities popping up in wordpress, drupal, et al, I would just do static pages. If you insist on using WordPress, make sure to put the latest, best security mods in place and KEEP THEM UPDATED.

My last wordpress site got owned within a week of the vulnerability being discovered, despite my having wordfence and other security mods in place. I just didn't patch fast enough, because I wasn't constantly checking for patches. Meh. Static pages for static content, my friend. Very few sites require anything dynamic anyway.

I'm actually thinking of just getting an amazon s3 bucket and using it for my hosting, too, but that's another matter.

Yeah, I went ahead and nixed WordPress replacing it with a static page.

Then I went and looked at the Zbase site and got a little depressed. [sigh] I miss Dave.
