I recently added some stuff to the Temporal Vagabonds Miscellany. I'll be adding more to the page as time marches on. Enjoy!

I'm thinking about removing the feedback form on my website. I'm getting nothing but spam which I have to go through on the off chance someone actually sent something that needs my attention. The majority of the spam this month, all 24 pieces if it was some clown trying to sell sunglasses. Morons! If I wanted sunglasses online I'd just go to Amazon and be done with it. I'm certainly not going to click on a link from some bozo who's filling my inbox with garbage. Particularly not the bozo who's sending me gibberish phrases repeated a gazillion times per message.

For what it's worth I've begun actively working on the Temporal Vagabonds website again. The site had sat fallow since 2012 after the server had  been hacked. After cleaning up the mess I relocated the material I actively used on a daily basis to a private subdomain. That worked out pretty well. My project wikis never needed to be public and I think it's best that they're not.  After two years it's time I did something with the public side of the site. There's still not much there yet. My intent now is to do the site as static pages for now. There's a little JavaScript dice roller that I did circa 1999 on the new Miscellany page and that's about it.

I have some ideas for things I want to put on the site. I think I have some old articles that I wrote a long time ago that I want to add to the site. I just need to scrounge through thirty years of archives to find them. I also intend to revamp the old static Fey Weirdness pages for placement on the site. I was working on that when my computer went on the fritz. I'll get back to it when I can.

It's that time of year again. The air feels strangely damp and the temperatures from the beginning of the week vary from very warm to kind of chilly. One is never sure whether to flip the switch between the air conditioner and heater settings or to just suffer it out for the conditions to change. Though for me, I favor to air conditioner for getting some of the humidity out of the air.

The batteries for the UPS still haven't arrived. The power glitches weren't as bad this week as they were the previous week where some days the electricity seemed to go out for a few seconds every hour. I still don't trust running a computer without battery backup. I've lost more data to power outages and glitches this year than I have since 1994 or so when I got my first UPS. Fortunately I have my Compaq notebook for writing.

In my last post I asked for some reading recommendations and all I got were recommendations for Briggs and Hamilton books and maybe a sidewise recommendation for the Dresden Files books by Jim Butcher. Might be time I finally read some of those. Never have. Might be fun and lately I've been wanting to get into some stuff in the contemporary and urban fantasy vein. At the recommendation of an old acquaintance I recently read A Kiss of Shadows and while interesting I'm not sure I'd want to read the later books.

This week I've done a lot of stuff on the private wiki. I've been using it to gather my notes and thoughts for that game setting I've been building for the last decade and more with [livejournal.com profile] auld_hippie. As of last night I'm up to 120 articles. Not counting category pages, images, and the talk and user subpages I've been using for notes on the notes, so the speak.

Well, that's enough for now. Be well, folks.

I think that's it for this round of updates. The top page has been revamped yet again. I think I'm mostly happy with it though the color scheme may change a couple more times or maybe not. Initially I tried to approximate the radioactive cloud color scheme of the previous styles. Then I tried recreating the original Temporal Vagabonds color scheme from memory since as far as I know no examples of it survive. Then finally I tried using a color wheel approach to determining complements which is what the current color scheme is based on.

The navigation has changed from a vertical array of 150 px wide buttons to a horizontal bar of, hopefully equidistant, text links that are part of the red bar under the site title. Reddish bar, at any rate. Have a look. http://www.temporalvagabonds.net

The Miscellany, Feedback, and custom error pages have been updated to reflect the new design.

[sigh]

I've done some work on the website. Most notably a couple big subtractions. I've removed the Temporal Vagabonds Blog and the Forums. Neither area was seeing nay action and in some ways they were redundant with the wiki and the project pages. Any actual content from the blog and forums has been moved over to the wiki or the project page as appropriate. And in the case of the blog the entries were also imported into my personal blog, for what that's worth.

Should anyone be interested The Deck of Horrible Fates stuff is now on the wiki.

I'm looking for some feedback in regards the top page of my website. While I like it I know my tastes are probably nowhere near the norm. I'd like to hear about the impressions of others? Is the page too minimalist? Is it too wordy? What do you think?
