This evening I remembered I purchased a pack of Christmas cards last year. I assumed it was the box on top of the bookcase in the living room so I checked when I got home. Nice cards but there were only six left in the box and other telltales in the box established a 2011 date. So, a half hour later I finally found the box I bought last year. My first thought upon looking at them was "What was I thinking?" Obviously twelve months ago I thought they were a good choice. Still, what was I thinking?!

It's not that they're horrible looking cards. It's just that I usually gravitate towards dark colors and twilight landscapes and these cards are almost a diametric opposite of that. They're really not to my usual tastes at all and I can't figure out what would have compelled me to choose this design a year ago.

This was found in a notecase in the back of my closet. I assume this piece of paper is from the same time period as the little pocket journal it was found with. Judging by the contents the pocket journal dates from the time I was recovering from surgery in 2000. Nothing in the journal sheds light on what this might be. Anybody got any clues?

Somewhat disconcerting is that I have no recollection of the little journal. The handwriting in it is definitely my own though.

I was talking to an old acquaintance from way back. (K, If you're reading this be sure to say "Hi" to everyone.) The topic came around to the variety of hats I've worn over the years. One hat in particular is of particular interest. I spent the day looking for a picture of it and I couldn't find anything. I know it's unlikely that anyone here might have one but I thought I'd ask anyway. If anyone has a picture of me wearing a gray bucket hat could you let me know and maybe send me a scan of it? It doesn't matter if it has that weird bluish yellow haze around me. That can be Photoshopped out easily enough. :) Any help would be appreciated.
