My entries to LiveJournal have been rather sparse. As I've said in the past I made an account to keep up with a few old friends. Lately I've been doing a great deal of thinking. I've been thinking about many things my past, my future, my life, old friends and acquaintances who've disappeared from my life who still have a hold on my heart and mind despite their long absence. One such friend, whom I'll call Gaberlunzie, is whom inspires me to write this entry. The first in hopefully a series that'll explore a multitude of topics. LiveJournal seems like a good place to set my thoughts out there for people to read, comment on, and critique.

I met Gaberlunzie at the beginning of the Winter Quarter in 1991 at DeKalb Community College. We were both taking a weight training course to satisfy a physical education requirement. There we were two weaklings that nobody else wanted as partners. Naturally, we paired up. We quickly discovered we shared a great many interests. Paramount among these were philosophy and literature. Over the next two years we had one long conversation that spanned the entire time we knew each other. It covered a broad breadth of topics ranging from mathematics, the sciences, philosophy, literature but largely it was about the meaning of life and the nature of reality.

Life eventually separated us. He ventured off to go to school far away and eventually returned to his native country in the Carribean. I stayed in Georgia. Thanks to the wonders of the Information Age we regained contact with one another for a brief time in 2000. I haven't heard from him in a long time. We talked about each compiling our ideas and reflections on life on to the web. I don't know if he's done that yet. I hope to one day see that he has. As for me I'm going to try to do just that here. In the future I'll post entries with the tag "the_conversation", from time to time, and I'll talk about whatever topic I feel like expounding upon. I don't know how often I'll do it and I'll continue to make my occasional chatter entries as well.

Until next time.
