Since about the beginning of this year I've making a point to make a new entry here at least once a week. Largely my posts have been inconsequential poorly thought out efforts to post something. Anything I can think of at the moment I sit down to post is what has gotten set down here. Posting for the sake of posting is kind pointless. I'm going to dial back my efforts to post every week. Instead I'll go back to just posting whenever I feel like it. I'm more likely to put more effort into what I have to say that way, I think.

I enjoy reading your posts, and like that you've been posting more frequently, but I agree. There's no point in forcing yourself to post just for the sake of posting. If you're interested in developing a discipline, you could give yourself a writing assignment. (Every day for this week, write about a childhood memory; every day the next week write about a book you've loved, etc. You could do the writer's block prompts, but most of the time I think I could answer those in one word).

In my case, I'd rather not turn lj into one more thing I "have" to do.

I've also been largely absent of late, and it bums me out every time I think about it. But when I sit here and try to think of something to post...I just can't. There's plenty going on, for sure, but I'm just not feeling the self-sharing spark right now. I've actually been feeling like I should start my own geek blog somewhere, but...I still want to keep this one around for semi-anonymous purposes.

I dunno. Nothing worth doing is ever easy...

Just saw this comment. To be honest I'm really not sure how many on my friends lists really read or want to read the ramblings I post here.

For a geek blog, don't you have your pounding brass site? You could install an instance of wordpress or something. Hmm, then again that might not be quite as anonymous as you'd like? I don't know.

In my case I get ideas from time to time for a post but I'm usually busy with something else and by time I get in here the ideas have fled and the words won't come.

Hmm, well. Aside from finding time I'm not sure people really want to see more ramblings and rants from me than what I already post. :)
