A question about cell phones.

[Poll #1752817]I'm curious how often people change cell phones. I've noticed some people seem to have a new phone every time I see them.  On the other hand I used my first cell phone for a decade before circumstances necessitated a change. I've had my current one since 2008 and I've been thinking lately it might be time to see if I can't get something better. Something that works decently in my house would be kind of nice.

My answer would be "until I lose it."

Oops. That was a possible answer that didn't even occur to me.

had my crap phone from 01 til 09. have since then had an iphone 3g and an iphone 3gs. So, wide variance, but an average of about 3.3 years per phone.

I'd say it depends on how often the technology goes out of date.

First, whatever-it-was to edge, then edge to 3g, and now that I have an iPhone 3GS, I'll probably retire it either when the toddler finally breaks it or apple decides to stop supporting it with OS updates. At this point my phone cycling schedule would probably be the same as Apple's since I like the iPhone interface and thus have no intention at this time of switching over to a droid or blackberry or whathaveyou.
