Flame Dance

Flame Dance
P. J. Hightower, 1994

The tiny candle flame dances
upon it's tiny little stage of wax
Bow and twirl; around it prances
Never leaving leaving its stage of wax
Across the floor I look
And I see other candle flames
Dancing in rhythm to ethereal music
Hypnotic movement to which lames
And traps my attention from the trick
The flames care not and dance on
I watch spellbound as images
Of past and future cloud my vision
Through the night only chaos rages
And so it goes with such things
To them the mind always clings
